Future partners Louis J. McCloskey, Jr., (right, in a 1945 photo) younger brother of Anne Henkels, and Arthur C. (Buck) Faust join Henkels & McCoy. At about this time, Henkels & McCoy does the landscaping and athletic field for Saint Joseph’s College (now Saint Joseph’s University) at its new location on City Line Avenue in West Philadelphia. Dirt and soil was moved by a sleigh-like device known as a scoop, pulled by a horse, and fine grading was done by hand raking.

In February, photographs of landscaping work done by Henkels & McCoy will appear in The American Architect, showcasing new homes constructed in Philadelphia's elegant Chestnut Hill district. The homes on Winton Road were designed by architect H. Louis Duhring and appeared in the publication as part
of the 43rd Annual Exhibition of the Architect League of New York.
